Key Issues

Representing Truro

I was born in Cornwall attending Treliske School, Truro School and took my A levels at Truro College going on to gain a degree in Information Communication Technology. My mother is Cornish as were her parents and my father moved to Cornwall and attended Camborne College to complete his A levels.

I am fiercely proud of my heritage, Cornwall and the area in which we live.

After graduating I worked in London as a business and technology consultant before returning to Cornwall to invest in a new family business. It was during my time in London, where I worked in a number of governmental departments, that I first started to develop an interest in politics. This was partly formed by the disillusionment I felt at seeing waste and disorganisation in the departments I was involved and in the economic decisions being made in relation to Government projects such as ID cards and flawed NHS IT projects.

As a member of the public I have fought against antisocial behaviour in my local area, successfully secured parking control in Boscawen to reduce the volume of parking and ensured the proper bin collection from the doors of local homes. I have also had to deal with the frustration of not being listened too or properly treated by government organisation who sometimes seem to lose sight of the real person their decisions affect.

It was these experiences and others which led me to became involved with local politics. I am passionate about giving back to my community and helping local people ensure their views, needs and wishes are heard by those who work for them. I also believe that with the right leadership and vision Cornwall can make far greater economic progress without compromising on our rural heritage.

I live and work in Truro and in my spare time am a keen swimmer, surfer and gym user. I am also involved with local charities and am a supporter of the Cornwall Dyslexic Association.
